Medical Radiation Practitioner / Diagnostic Radiographer

Domain 1 encompasses not only clinical competence but also accountability, ethical integrity, and patient-centred decision-making — qualities I have developed and demonstrated throughout my academic and professional journey (AHPRA, 2019).

During my final clinical placement, I was marked as Graduate or Advanced across all Domain 1 criteria, confirming my readiness for professional practice. I applied my knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to accurately position patients and select appropriate imaging protocols (1.1). My proficiency in using RIS/PACS systems (1.2) ensured correct record management and image matching, which supported efficient workflow and patient safety.

I have strengthened my ability to interpret medical terminology on imaging referrals and determine suitable radiographic series, including adaptive techniques when needed (1.4). My previous experience as a radiographer assistant in both Singapore and Sydney allowed me to refine these technical and analytical skills within diverse healthcare settings.

Through continuous patient interaction, I developed confidence in assessing a patient's capacity to receive care and in obtaining informed consent with respect and empathy (1.5). I have also learned to identify and respond appropriately to patient deterioration, ensuring safe and compassionate care throughout the imaging process (1.7). Additionally, I have honed my ability to critique images critically, recognising diagnostic quality and escalating urgent findings when necessary (1.7).

Reflecting on these experiences, I recognise that Domain 1 represents the foundation of professional autonomy. I am committed to continually expanding my clinical expertise and applying evidence-based practice to deliver accurate, ethical, and patient-focused radiographic care.
